KHI Bulker Divinegate Delivered at DACKS

first_imgzoomImage Courtesy: Kawasaki Heavy Industries Japanese shipping company Indigo Marine Shipping has taken delivery of Divinegate, a 61,000 dwt bulk carrier newbuild, shipbuilder Kawasaki Heavy Industries said.The Ultramax vessel was handed over to Indigo at the Dalian COSCO KHI Ship Engineering (DACKS) shipyard in Dalian City, China, on March 15, 2019. The facility is jointly operated by KHI and China COSCO Shipping.Featuring a length of 199.9 meters and a width of 32.24 meters, Divinegate has a capacity of 77,539 cbm.The Liberia-flagged ship can accommodate up to 25 people and reach a speed of 14.5 knots.The vessel has a flush deck with a forecastle and five holds that are designed for optimum transport of grains, coal, ores and steel products. Four 30-ton deck cranes are installed along the center in between the hatch covers to enable cargo loading and unloading in ports that lack cargo handling facilities, according to KHI.Divinegate employs various technologies to achieve maximum fuel economy, including an energy-saving, electronically-controlled main diesel engine, a bow designed to reduce wave resistance, high propulsive efficiency propellers, and a rudder bulb system with fins (RBS-F) and semi-duct system with contra fins (SDS-F), which all contribute to the vessel’s enhanced propulsion performance.Additionally, the bulker incorporates various energy-saving technologies, which reduce both fuel consumption and emission of carbon dioxide (CO2), thereby complying with the EEDI Phase 2 requirements.Earlier this month, another 61,000 dwt bulker was delivered to Indigo Marine at DACKS. The ship in question is Captain Haddock and it flies the flag of the Marshall Islands.last_img
